Where Will You Be On the Coldest Night of the Year?
February 5th, 2019
On February 23, the Presley & Partners team invites you to bundle up and join us once more, as we walk and fundraise for the fourth annual Coldest Night of the Year event.
Hosted by the Comox Valley Transition Society and Dawn to Dawn, “Coldest Night” is a family-friendly fundraising walk-a-thon that supports and serves hungry, homeless and hurting people and families in our community – and all across our nation.
Last year’s event saw hundreds of Comox Valley residents leave the warmth of their homes, lace up their walking shoes and raise more than $65,000 in support of ending homelessness. According to the organization’s website, our awesome Valley was the number-one supportive community in all British Columbia.
“The Coldest Night of the Year is a walk designed to give participants a very small taste of the challenges facing the homeless in Canada,” says Presley & Partners team captain, Kristi Meier. “This is an issue that should be close to all of our hearts, as homelessness is an increasingly complex and problematic issue facing our communities.
“In today’s economy, more and more individuals and families are finding themselves at risk of becoming homeless. This is a great way to show support and it’s also a super fun event – one that you can feel good about participating in.”
A great cause backed by great organizations
Presley & Partners is fortunate to get the opportunity to work with and volunteer for so many excellent organizations, and the ones behind this event are a couple of the best.
Dawn to Dawn is a registered non-profit that helps to provide transitional housing to those in need in the Comox Valley. Its vision is for everyone to have a home to call their own.
And the Comox Valley Transition Society provides essential services and safety to women and children who have experienced violence. In addition to transitional housing, both organizations also help supply the resources required to move into long-term housing.
Presley & Partners is a proud sponsor of the 2019 Coldest Night of the Year event in the Comox Valley, and our team will be walking and fundraising, as well.
The goal this year is to raise $75,000, which goes directly toward sheltering and feeding families that are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Help us reach this goal by donating at Coldest Night of the Year.
Or maybe you want to get out there yourself!
The event starts and ends at St. George’s United Church at 505 – 6th St. in Courtenay, and offers 2-, 5- and 10-kilometre route options. Registration opens at 4:00 p.m. and the walk begins at 5:15 p.m., following the opening ceremony.
Hope to see you then!
