Comox Valley’s LIFT Startup can help
As an accountant in the Comox Valley, I get to meet with all sorts of creative entrepreneurs. It’s inspiring to see people work to bring their business dreams to fruition.
Of course, starting and growing any venture has its challenges, not the least of which is figuring out how to promote it. But one Valley networking group has taken a unique approach to the business of endorsing and encouraging local talent.
Among other things, LIFT Startup has created the Island’s only social media-powered directory, and it’s garnering attention for itself and its members.
What is LIFT?
The name tells the story – LIFT: Leading, Inspiring, and Fuelling the Talent economy on Vancouver Island.
But what it doesn’t say is that it’s a Valley-based, inclusive, award-winning marketing organization that fosters a “hustle the help” approach.
Founder Hans Peter Meyer notes that it’s based on the idea that we can all work together as a community to solve challenges and help our businesses grow – and have a lot of fun doing it.
Essentially, members support each other not only by using each others’ services, but also by giving each other advice at BizOnDeck workshops, LIFT socials and additional events. Unlike other networking groups, members also connect on social media by extending LIFT VIP offers and writing reviews on the innovative new business directory.
If you’re a community-minded, growth-oriented entrepreneurial and/or innovative business on the Island, this group is for you.
How their new directory works for members
As a LIFT member, you automatically are part of The Vancouver Island Local Business Directory. Launched this past summer, it’s a way to showcase your talents to the other 200-plus members and non-members alike.
With things like reviews and special membership deals popping up all the time, it’s an excellent opportunity for like-minded entrepreneurs to connect with, promote and back each other.
Why Presley & Partners joined LIFT (and you should, too)
We like LIFT’s community-minded method and the directory so much that we’ve featured our new “Start-Up Partners” service as a VIP Offer through it. It’s a perfect way to highlight our new program aimed at helping entrepreneurs get easier and better bookkeeping results.
In fact, LIFT’s innovative approach to networking prompted us to get on board as one of their Support Partners this year.
We can get behind anything that helps local businesses get the word out and grow.
And we think you should, too.
