Coldest Night of the Year Event a Massive Success

With 69 teams raising more than $87,000, the Comox Valley’s 2019 Coldest Night of the Year event, built upon last year’s phenomenal results and surpassed fundraising goals – making it an unqualified success.

Last year’s event saw Valley participants and sponsors rally together to be the number-one supportive community in Canada.

This year hundreds hit the streets in the freezing rain, in another outpouring of support for ending homelessness, and helped exceed the community’s fundraising goal by an impressive 117 per cent.

One step closer to ending homelessness

Held on February 23, the fourth annual “Coldest Night” event resulted in $87,768 being raised toward sheltering and feeding families that are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the Comox Valley.

“It’s always a rewarding experience,” says Presley & Partners’ Brenda Kelm, who served hot apple cider and snacks to walkers at the team’s rest stop. “Each year, together with thousands of other Canadians, we come out and walk, rain or shine.

“This event is remarkable in how it brings people together – of all ages and from all walks of life – to help each other and do their share to end homelessness in our community. We’re so proud to be a part of this.”

Your support means everything

Hosted by Dawn to Dawn and the Comox Valley Transition Society, the “Coldest Night” is a family-friendly fundraising walk-a-thon that supports and serves hungry, homeless and hurting people and families in communities across the nation. All of the funds raised locally go directly toward supporting the efforts of these two non-profits.

“We believe deeply in this cause,” explains Brenda Kelm. “Both of these organizations supply vital services supporting the well-being of the Comox Valley, and especially those in it who are vulnerable or at-risk.

“This year we were thrilled that we surpassed our fundraising targets– both as a team and a community – and helped contribute to continuing the important work that they’re doing here.”

In 2019, Presley & Partners proudly sponsored a rest stop, in addition to fundraising and walking in the event. We wish to thank everyone who came out, as well as all those who helped our team members in raising money for this fantastic community event!

“The entire community came together in another outstanding show of support this year,” says Presley & Partners team captain, Kristi Meier. “It’s easy to see why we all take pride in calling the Comox Valley home.”

See you next year!
